I graduated from Seminole High School, in Seminole, Texas, in 1979.  I attended Lubbock Christian University on a volleyball scholarship and graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Physical Education and a minor in History. I started my masters at Tarleton University in Stephenville, Texas and continued my masters at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.


I started my teaching career at Waco Christian in Waco, Texas in 1984 where I taught Texas History and coached volleyball, basketball and track.  I moved to public education in 1985 teaching at Marlin Jr. High in Marlin, Texas. I taught Texas History, U.S. History and coached Volleyball, basektball and track.  We moved to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area in 1990 where I taught at Red Oak Jr. High teaching Texas History and coaching volleyball, basketball, and track. I taught at Alvarado Jr. High in Alvarado, Texas in 1991. I taught Texas History, Life Skills, PE and 8th grade Girls Athletics. In 1997 I taught at Midlothian Jr. High in Midlothian, Texas teaching Texsas History, Life Skills, P.E and Girls Athletics.  I also coached volleyball, basektball and track. In 2006, I taught at Barbara Bush Middle School in Carrolton, Texas.  I taught Texas History and coached volleyball, basketball and track. In 2007 to present I am teaching at Red Oak  High School and I am teaching 10th grade World History and coaching 9th grade Volleyball and JV Soccer.   I have taught for 32 years in education.


I live in Midlothian Texas, and I am married to Blair Halbert.  We have 3 children, Brooke who is a Texas Tech Graduate, Candace who is a mom and works as a manager at Childrens Courtyard with our precious grandson Hunter Wayne, and Shannon who is a Junior at Texas Tech. We have 2 dogs, a lab named Oscar and a miniture weenie dog named Sascha.
