I am the instructional coach for English Language Arts/Reading and  Social Studies. I look forward to continuing an excellence of education here at Red Oak High School.

I knew as a child I wanted to teach; however, my love and passion for writing took me on a different path after college. I spent two years working as a news reporter for the Sherman Herald Democrat, during which time I won an AP First Place award for sports writing. While I loved this position, I new I wanted to impact and change the lives of others. In 2008, I pursued my Master's Degree in English Literature with a specialization in women's lit. This opened up the door to teach high school and challenge the minds of young students.

I am a firm believer that ALL students CAN learn. It is my role to challenge them to look at the world differently and see how literature can help them understand the world they live in. I am passionate about helping students figure out who they are and how they fit into this world we live in. Students in my class will learn to think critically and question everything around them. They will learn how to look at literature and media to determine what is being said, who it is being said by, why it is being presented that way, and whether or not they want to agree or disagree with it.

I can't wait to work with your child and help him/her look at this life and find a path he/she wants to follow!
